Christmas morning was funny. Every 2-3 days for a few weeks before Christmas, the boys would ask "Santa coming?" and we would tell them: "No, not yet, not until Christmas." So, we thought they would at least be a little excited when we told them Christmas morning that Santa had come and had left them some surprises. Well, we were wrong. The couldn't have cared less. This is what they saw about 10 feet in front of them when we opened their bedroom door Christmas morning:
They acted like it wasn't even there and started strait upstairs to "eat breakfast." It actually took a bit of convincing to get them to come into the tents (my parents gave to them) and open their presents. Cory finally got their attention when he pulled a ding-dong out of their stocking and offered to let them have that instead of breakfast.
Eventually though, they did open their gifts (although about half way through they decided throwing all the boxes down the stairs was more interesting and we had to coax them down again) and got excited about them. In fact, they still really like everything they got for Christmas. I can't think of one gift they got that they arene't still really excited to play with/read/wear/use. So, I guess I would call that a successful Christmas.
I forgot to bring our stockings (which was sad b/c we had made them for FHE. The boys even picked them out (yellow and green sequins) at the dollar store), so we borrowed four from Brandon and Kristy. We were still short one stocking though, so this was Cory's solution (notice the socks hiding above the stocking):
Samantha was her happy little angel self all day long. Just adorable!
I think my favorite gift this year was what we gave to my Dad. He has been working crazy hours for year now on the vehicle that will replace the space shuttle. Well, they had their first test launch a few months ago and it went really well. Time magazine actually voted it (Ares) the best invention of 2009. So, we made him a mug and a mouse pad with pictures of the launch and the words "Time magazine best invention 2009." Way to go Dad!
Dad told me yesterday that everyone is so envious of his cup and mouse pad and ask him where he got them...it is a real hit with him!
