One thing I've noticed is that she always seems hungry. She has suddenly started nursing every 1-2 hrs during the day instead of every 3-4 hrs. In the evenings, she will nurse like she is starving and then get really frustrated when it is all gone and just grunt and squirm and whine...it definitely hasn't been a nice relaxing put her to sleep type of nursing. She eventually just gives up trying, so I put her to bed and she falls asleep fine, but wakes up 2-4 hrs later screaming and will not go back to sleep without eating.
Well, there is a lady in our ward who has a baby the exact same age (there were actually three of us with the same due date). Her son has been having a similar problem. Her Dr recommended starting him on a small amount of cereal just 1-2 times a day. My mom has been suggesting this for weeks, but I really wanted to wait until she was closer to 6 months, but after a couple of weeks of sleepless nights and then talking to this lady, I decided to give it a try.
She didn't spit it out, but didn't really swallow it either. She just sat there with her mouth slightly open and a confused look on her face. Eventually she warmed up a bit and did swallow some. She would even open for more.

Unfortunately, it hasn't really helped her sleeping much....
Sorry about her sleeping problems. I hope it gets better soon.
ReplyDeleteShe must be going through a growth spurt. Chloe is doing the same. She eats every 2-3 hours. What's annoying is that she eats 3-4 oz. at a time. So I'm constantly making a new bottle for her. Chloe does the same thing with the rice cereal. You can try putting some rice cereal in a bottle for her, with her milk, if she takes the bottle. I've been wanting to do this for Chloe. A binky helps us through the night too... we pop it back in her mouth when she gets up. Most of the time she falls back asleep.
