Sleeping Boys

We have been wrapping the boys since birth, but when we found Micah like this after a nap:

we started to think that maybe it was time to give up the wraps. They have actually started sleeping a lot better since we did. I think they like be able to find a comfortable position like this:
Yes, Noah sleeps on his side. Always. Not his back, not his tummy, his side. Pretty awesome.

Like I said, they have been sleeping better, so it was odd when Friday night (early Sat morning) Micah woke up around midnight. He whined/talked to himself for about 1 hour, but around 1 am, he started crying, then screaming. It got more and more intense and then muffled. Both Cory and I ran in there, but Cory beat me to it. All I hear is Cory saying (loudly): "Oh, my gosh!" With my heart racing, I asked what was wrong. "He was on his tummy, and he didn't like it."

So last night, Micah wouldn't settle down when we put him to bed. After about 10 min, Cory went in and he was again on his belly. Cory flipped him back over. This went on for about 1 hour with Cory determined to make him sleep on his back so he would be safe. We finally decided that there was nothing we could do but let him sleep on his tummy. Cory was SUPER worried. I don't think he slept well at all last night. He was so sure that Micah was going to suffocate. But Micah slept great and woke up just fine this morning:Super sweet!

  2. My kids love sleeping on their tummies too! I was so worried with my first baby when he started to roll onto his tummy to sleep. My doctor told me as long as he rolled over by himself he was fine. Hopefully now that he so cozy he'll sleep through the night for you!! :)

  3. That is so funny that he loves his tummy! We think Ty is starting not to like his wrap either. When he starts to fuss early in the morning I will let his arms free and he will fall back asleep. I think they are trying to tell us something! They are so darn cute and getting so big. I love the cute family pictures on the side. We are going to get some taken when we go to Utah in May. Can't wait!

  4. I can't get Grant to sleep not being wrapped up. Three days in a row last week I tried to put him down not wrapped for naps and he wouldn't sleep for longer than 40 minutes. I gave up and started wrapping him again. I will try again in a couple weeks. I can't wait to put him down not wrapped. I would go flip Aurora back onto her back when she started rolling. But eventually gave up. She slept better on her tummy. But, I know I'll do the same with Grant when he starts doing it and will eventually stop worrying about him too. That is really cute that Cory lost sleep over it.
