So...here is a little more of the story for Diana and Wes and anyone else who is interested...
I had a Dr appt on Friday the 14th. I was really hoping they would agree to induce me sometime that weekend b/c Noah had turned head down again. Well, I got my wish, but not for that reason. They found out that I had a mild case of Preclampsia. Since the babies were healthy/ready to be born they decided to induce me rather than risk the Preclampsia getting any worse. So, I left the office and called Cory. We met at home and then drove to the hospital. They started me on Pitocin at 1:30 and it made my contractions really regular, but not painful at all. At 7:00 they broke my water and I immediately started having painful contractions. Within 45 min, I was dilated to a 5 and got the epidural (which I didn't want originally (they made me get it b/c of risks with twins), but ended up loving!) Within the next hour, I was at a 10. They took me into the operating room (all twin deliveries with these Drs are in the OR b/c of risk for C-section), and started the pushing. Micah was born at 11:26 and Noah was born 14 min later. It was the best two moments of my life. I couldn't stop laughing and crying. I got to hold Micah on my chest (with some help from a nurse) while I delivered Noah. It was amazing! Micah seems to have more Marsh in him and Noah seems to be more of a Dalton. Micah has lots of dark hair (like Cory's baby pics) and Cory's eyelashes. Noah looks just like my brother Devin. They are absolutely amazing. So, overall, the delivery was pretty quick and easy.
However, I wasn't able to deliver the placentas. I started hemorrhaging and had to have a DNC to get them out. Luckily, they were able to stop the bleeding without taking my Uterus. That was definitely the most painful part of the whole process...of my whole life, in fact. I lost quite a bit of blood, but ended up being able to leave the hospital w/o a transfusion. Both boys were perfectly healthy and are putting on weight wonderfully. In fact, Micah (the smaller of the two) is already back to birth weight. I am just on heavy iron/folate supplements and I'm slowly gaining back strength.
I have never been happier. I just can't stop looking at these two little angels. I can still hardly believe that we have been so blessed. They are wonderful babies and pretty happy/content most of the time. They love to be near each other and are both good little eaters.
Thanks again for all the prayers/support that everyone has given us over the last couple. We deeply appreciate it, and know that it has made a significant difference in our lives.
Mist,
ReplyDeleteI have been religious about checking to see if you've posted anything new and I am so proud of you for delivering these two little guys. I just wish I still lived in CA b/c you better believe I'd be visiting you at some point! It's amazing how well you know your children the second you see them. I remember (and I still feel like this) thinking that once I laid eyes on Anderson that we'd known each other for forever already. I just adore him and now you know exactly what I mean. I'm so excited for you. Get some rest. Love you lots.
Dear Misty,
ReplyDeleteThanks for elaborating on the birth story... there were some pretty big holes that we were curious about after reading Cory's version! Your boys look adorable and soooo healthy! I hope you recover quickly and get to enjoy them!
Take care!
I'm thrilled that all has gone so well. I love hearing new moms talk about their babies. It truly is amazing (the whole birth process). I have a friend in our ward that has 4 month old twins and it's amazing watching her take care of them. They are cute and also love to be near each other. I know twins/multiple births are sent to SPECIAL parents! keep up the great work and enjoy it!
ReplyDeletep.s. glad you liked the epideral
Oh misty, I am crying again, they are so so sweet. What a sweet birth experience to hold one while the other came. I was laughing and crying at the same time when Owen was born too- it is such an overwhelming experience. I'm so glad you loved your epidural, and you recovered quickly from the hemoraging. Congrats again, I am so so so wanting a newborn right now :)
ReplyDeleteLove the babies!!!! Seriously, they are so cute! I hope you are able to get some sleep. Congrats again!
ReplyDeleteSo Happy for you! I log this blog thing. Now I can get the real story. I'm glad you are all healthy. Twins are risky and you did great! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see all is well. Now the fun is just beginning!!! We love you and miss you guys.
ReplyDeleteDid anybody else wonder why they made Cory wear a hair net cap thingie?
